Okay, so, more thoughts on FotJ: Outcast.

I really, really love this book to a degree that kind of surprises me. And in between commenting to comedownstairs about it this morning and then driving to work, it kind of hit me why. Spoilery stuff back behind the cut, yo. And yeah, probably a lot of Tahiri again 'cause this is me.

Okay! As promised, the actual in-depth, spazzy, tl;dr-y, spoilery, all-over-the-place and gleeful review of Aaron Allston's new Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi book, Outcast.

Which, yes, for those of you guys who've seen on Twitter or saw yesterday's post, I kind of love a whole lot. Which is a huge freaking relief, because the first (and thankfully very wrong) spoilers that comedownstairs gave me a couple of months ago made me keysmash for weeks. And while I do honestly enjoy Legacy of the Force and have reread at least some of the books a few times (though with Karen Traviss's it's usually been skimming, because OMG, Traviss, your Mandalorian obsession scares me) there was a lot about that series that drove me up the wall. And then new spoilers started coming out, and I started feeling better about it, and then there were more spoilers and I just got intrigued, and then still more spoilers and I ended up just spending the past couple of weeks in a flaily. grabby-hands mode of nonstop spaz. Um. Apologies to those of you who've had to deal with that. *g*

And so far, FotJ looks to be a huge improvement over a lot of the things that frustrated me about LotF. Plus it's Allston, and I love the dialogue he writes. So apologies to those of you who've had to deal with my flaily glee since yesterday afternoon.

So, behind the cut, in-depth blathering. Bear in mind this is from the point of view of someone whose two favorite characters in post-RotJ EU are Jaina Solo and Tahiri Veila, and they don't suck any more, and the people on TFN who wish both of them would DIAF can bite me.

. . . okay, you know what? There's gonna be a lot of blathering about Tahiri back here. I'm sure the FH contingent on my flist is shocked or something, really.

That I totally woke up at 2 AM all excited about. And hit up Amazon MP3 to buy the new IG album right away. (Still think Poseidon and the Bitter Bug is pretty o.O as a title though.) And checked my email to make sure B&N had confirmed my preorder. Which they had.

I went back to sleep for two hours after that, but STILL.

Randomly, I wonder about and kind of fear what would happen if Alison Krauss and the Decemberists ever collaborated.

Oh, the potential for gleeful, tuneful morbidity.

Frak-all only knows how many people on my flist have done this now, but I think the last I saw it was either from christinenj, crazylike_afox, or lizbetann.

Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line (unless the first line reveals the song title) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

I'd like to note that this took me forEVER, because 3/4 of the stuff it came up with was either in a different language, had the title right there in the beginning, or was an instrumental. AUGH.

I think it's telling that the first three months of the year are summed up with me talking about GoGo Sentai Boukenger, and three of those are me talking about birthdays, and the rest is me being bitchy or on crack.

That kind of sums it up perfectly, really.
